About Henry Peel and Charles Coble
Henry A. Peel divides his time between East Carolina University (ECU) in Greenville, North Carolina and the University of North Carolina General Administration (UNC-GA) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is project director for various initiatives at UNC-GA including the Learning Laboratories Initiative, which was established to create model demonstration high schools. At ECU, he holds an endowed chair as the Wachovia Distinguished Professor. Formerly, he was vice provost, dean and associate dean, and associate vice chancellor for academic affairs at ECU. Before joining ECU, he served in numerous roles in public schools. Dr. Peel resides in Williamston with his wife, Dr. Betty Peel, an associate professor at ECU, and their children, Harrison and SarahLewis. Charles R. Coble is a co-founder and partner of The Third Mile Group, an education and social policy organization. Previously he was vice president for policy at the Education Commission of the States in Denver, Colorado. He is Professor Emeritus of science education and was dean of 13 years at the award-winning school of education at East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina. Coble served six years as vice president of university-school programs for the 16-campus University of North Carolina. In that capacity, he led the development of the University School Teacher Education Partnerships in all UNC teacher preparation institutions and organized the UNC Center for School Leadership Development. Coble earned his undergraduate, masters and Ed.D. degrees from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
