The Publishing Process
A Closer Look
1. Join
Your first name and email address is all it takes to join our growing author community, for instant access to free ebooks, publishing reports, advice, and industry connections.
2. Optional information
Provide information about your book and yourself. This is optional until you choose to publish with us.
3. Request a rep
With a $35 deposit (that is included in the cost of your package), you get a professional to help you with any questions you have, or to provide suggestions to improve your book once it is complete.
4. Upload your book
Submit your manuscript file conveniently online. Once your author representative has been assigned, we will review it and provide a publisher's evaluation for no additional cost.
5. Select your package
Make your package selection by comparing all the packages side by side, or by asking your author representative for a recommendation based upon your book.
6. Complete information
Tell us what your book is about, about your author biography, and other elements to fully customize your publication.
7. Design, pricing, and options
Choose your cover design, interior lay-out, and pricing plan. Set your own retail price, royalty, and author discount. Choose from an easy menu of optional upgrades and services.
8. Upload all your files
Make sure we have your final manuscript and any other files you wish to include (like an author photo or interior images).
9. Approve production
Confirm all the information, materials, and selections you have submitted. Once you confirm production to begin, Outskirts Press works its magic.
10. Review your proofs
After your book is designed by our professional staff, you will have the opportunity to review it for final print. If you see minor corrections to be made, now is the time.
11. Approve for print
Confirm the final cover file and interior file to be printed. You will receive the version number for both files, so you are guaranteed that what you are approving is what will print.
12. PUBLISHED!
Congratulations. Your book is published. Your author's center now changes from your production center to marketing central. Your Author Toolkit is filled with services and promotional tools to help you promote your book, while optional marketing services and products are just a click away.
