Book Excerpt

“Don’t speak to me like that,” I said as I raised my hand and pointed my finger in his face.
He got up off the couch and started walking around as he stared me up and down.
“After your gold toothed boyfriend chewed you up and spit you out, you want to come running back to me?” he said pointing to himself.
I got up off the couch too and turned to face him.
“How dare you!” I said pointedly.
“I got news for you lady, I’m not single anymore. Just like how you moved on, I’ve moved on as well,” he said in a boastful tone.
“Wow!” I said as I held my chest. My heart started pounding wildly and I really hoped he was joking. I couldn’t believe the words that were coming out of his mouth.
“Were we even an item?” I asked defensively. “You know I wanted to be much more than a part time lover to you. I wanted to be with you officially, I wanted me, you and our son Malique to be a family….. But no, you just thought I wasn’t good enough. According to you, I’m too flashy, materialistic and believe in too much vanity. Yet you didn’t think so all those times you had my legs in the air and your dick inside me.”
“You know what; you spoke your mind so you can leave now before this gets ugly.”
He briskly walked to the front door and made an attempt to open it.
“You damn right things gon’ be ugly up in here if you don’t give me what I asked for,” I warned him.
“Stop cursing in my house. Have some respect,” he said with a look of disgust on his face as he started pacing back and forth.
“Damn is not a curse word,” I told him.
“Yes it is,” He insisted
“Alrick ….you still want me to keep…..our…..little secret ….right?” I asked with a sly smile on my face.
“Stop bluffing,” he stated.
I locked eyes with him and gave him a serious gaze.
“You wanna try me?” I asked with a pout as I folded my arms across my chest.
“Can you accept half of what you’re asking for?” he asked as he swallowed real hard and his jaw hardened.
