About Joe White

Joe White joined NRA in 1940, when he went to the National Matches as a member of the Tennessee National Guard High-Power rifle team. He became a life member in 1967 and a benefactor life member in 1981. During his 21 years in the US Border Patrol, he was a firing member of five national-champion pistol teams. After retirement, he served 1 1/2 years as executive assistant to Harlon Carter, the executive vice president, and following that two years as deputy executive vice president. Later he served a three-year term on the board of directors. This is a candid memoir of the inside workings of the National Rifle Association, with no punches pulled.
