TAKE ME TO THE ROCK is an insight into the song writing abilities of Scott Alexander. He has been writing songs, poems, and lyrics since his high school days in the early 1970’s. This is a compilation of the stories behind the songs, the wisdom of the Bible as part of the songs, and the songs finally being published. Many of Scott’s songs have debuted in different venues throughout the years. He says, “Even if these songs haven’t made public audiences, the audience of ‘One’, God, has heard them all.” Now, these 88 songs can be enjoyed, in verse, with inspirational texts from The King James Version of the Holy Bible. Scott’s wish is, “I hope you will find something to move you and to lead you closer to God!”

David, of Bible fame, wrote psalms, or songs. He was prolific in his ability to write for God his innermost feelings. Scott says, "I have always had an admiration for David. He was a shepherd boy, a younger brother, swept aside as incapable of doing great things, and was trying to listen to God at an early age."
Scott is a very creative person and will stop at nothing to worship through word and song. It is Scott's belief that music was and still is a gift stemming from a practice learned on Sunday afternoons growing up in his home. That practice was that the TV was off and the stereo was on. His father's Columbia House Record Club albums were stacked high on the spindle of the stereo in the living room. All of the greatest music ever recorded was introduced to his siblings and to him. He states, "Whether or not we liked it or appreciated it wasn't the question. We listened to them anyway. It made us better and more accepting people."
In growing up, music was a daily part of our lives. My mother played the church organ and the piano for children's choirs at First Baptist Church- Charlotte, NC. My brother, my sister, and I had to choose what to play when we were old enough. They chose piano. I chose the guitar. At age six, I got my first guitar. At age eight, I took my first formal lesson. It's been a great gift in all of these years. I discovered that I wasn't using that gift to the Glory of God until 1992. He put me on my knees and let me know that He expected praises in return. I have done so. In this collection, you can see the creative passion that I have placed in the patterns of songs and lyrics. I am convinced that God is pleased with my efforts. I dedicate these to a loving family and to my God. (SL Alexander)
