Snapshots will present themselves in various forms. They mostly come through personal interaction, which somehow takes a ripple effect. The ripples are set in motion and will carry out waves of remembrances through family, local people, regional events, state happenings, national venues, and even on the global stage. Sometimes we are only a step away from greatness in any snapshot. An event is viewed from one perspective. That same event can be witnessed by millions, but their snapshots will trigger an entirely different point of view. From our homes, schools, community activities, and media we receive our educated view. I want to set in motion as many positive ripples for children, which may in turn, trigger the waves of the future. Each second, minute, hour, day, month, year, decade, half a century, or century is that compilation of snapshots that is our birth to death experience. Weigh in the other timelines of people who bleed over into ours from pre-birth to after death and its daunting the connections that are exposed and that ripple effect goes on forever ad-infinitum. SL Alexander

Being educated is a process of taking in every thing around us and categorizing it according to our points of view. A classroom is a small community of individuals put together by a system who must carefully mix them by race, gender, age, ability, and even by disability. I spent 20 years getting through the trainings of life to get to the 30 years of teaching and of educating others. I corralled four year olds, guided five year olds, engaged first graders, listened to third graders, led schools of elementary grades, became Mr. Action for a junior high, directed high school drop-out programs and counseled adults to recover their lives through education.
"Not a day has passed that some tidbit of humanity didn't come my way. In this collection of anecdotes, there are miraculous, humorous, endearing, gut-wrenching, and memorable tales of how students, parents, teachers, and communities came together, or, yes, fell apart, over events in education. Hopefully, these will strike a chord in your life as you either, are an educator, were an educator, will become an educator, or just know a good one when you see him. I dedicate this compilation to those students and colleagues who are real. If you see a part of yourself in this book, just laugh, enjoy, and share it with a friend. After all, that's what I'm doing!" Scott Alexander, from Snapshots: Chronicles of an Educator.
