Amazon Kindle Edition
The Amazon Kindle is a revolutionary wireless reading device that allows its owners to instantly download books and newspapers. Only books that have been submitted to the Amazon Kindle via the required process and in the required format are available for Kindle readers to purchase and enjoy. Kindle editions of books appear on Amazon and in Amazon search listings just like any other format (such as a hardback edition).
There are several benefits to having your book available on Amazon Kindle:
The Amazon Kindle edition will appear in the search results, along with any other formats of your book (such as your paperback and/or hardback editions). This results in an increase of exposure for your book's cover, which increases the chances of browsers clicking on your cover image and coming that much closer to becoming a buyer.
Sales through the Amazon Kindle are not split with Outskirts Press. Amazon will take their share, as they always do, but your profit will be directly deposited into your checking account by Amazon, without any involvement by (or portion for) Outskirts Press. In other words, your Kindle sales are YOUR Kindle sales.
Amazon customers and readers are growing every day. While the Kindle is a unique and revolutionary device designed to make reading more convenient, the majority of Amazon customers love actual BOOKS. A Kindle sale is an inexpensive way to offer your book to a potential reader; if they like it, they are more likely to purchase the paperback or hardback edition, too.
Our Marketing Department will send you the necessary submission form. This form includes required information about your banking institution (since Kindle Sales are directly deposited to your bank, providing Amazon with the means to make that deposit is a requirement of submission).
Once completed, send that form back to us. We'll take care of the rest and typically within 4 weeks, your Kindle edition will be online through Amazon.
Amazon offers two pricing options: a) Amazon pays 35% and the Kindle price can be whatever you want; or b) Amazon pays 70% but the Kindle price must be set between $2.99 and $9.99; and you must live in the United States.
Amazon Search Inside the Book Submission
Amazon's "online equivalent" to browsing a bookstore. Books that participate in the optional "Search Inside" program through Outskirts Press feature a "Look Inside" icon over their Amazon cover image, which invites potential customers to electronically "flip" through a small section of the book. Amazon claims that books participating in this program enjoy "significant" sales improvement, on average, over books that do not. Equally important is the effect this participation has on your Amazon search results. More data about your book's content is stored by Amazon's computers, potentially resulting in more accurate and targeted search results and recommendations.
Amazon Keyword Search Submission
Customers who browse for new books on Amazon usually do not search by title or author. They search by keywords or phrases (subject-specific words that describe their interest). One goal in book marketing is to do whatever is possible to improve a book's search results ranking on Amazon.com for applicable keywords. The Amazon Keyword Submission option through Outskirts Press can help. Participating books are "tagged" with 10 applicable terms and keywords on Amazon's Product Detail page.

Amazon Extreme Marketing Package Agreement
Author understands that by purchasing the Amazon Extreme Marketing Package, author receives the individual marketing services/products defined below. Purchase of the Amazon Extreme Package indicates agreement to each service or products individual agreement.
The Amazon Extreme Package fee becomes non-refundable once ordered.
Amazon Kindle Edition Option Agreement
Author understands the Kindle Edition option is a service Outskirts Press will provide to assist the author with formatting a Kindle Edition and submitting it to Amazon’s Digital Text Platform (DTP) for the Kindle Store.
Author understands that in order to submit the Kindle Edition to Amazon’s DTP, Outskirts Press will set up an Amazon DTP account for the author. If the author has an existing DTP account with Amazon, Outskirts Press will need to submit the Kindle Edition within that existing account as Amazon only allows one DTP account per author.
Outskirts Press will contact the author upon purchase of the Kindle Edition with a form to complete with the information necessary to publish the Kindle Edition on Amazon’s DTP. Author understands that the Kindle Edition cannot be completed until the form is returned to Outskirts Press. The form requires banking information, which will be submitted to Amazon for the purposes of Amazon direct depositing Kindle royalties to the author's bank account directly.
Author understands that the title description submitted to Amazon’s DTP uses the information/materials supplied by the author verbatim, including any typographical, grammatical, or punctuation errors. Author understands it is the author's responsibility to review all supplied information closely before submitting.
Author understands that some reformatting of the interior file is necessary for the Kindle Edition. Outskirts Press makes every effort to correct any noticeable formatting issues with the Kindle Edition, but because part of the conversion process is administered by Amazon, there will be some formatting issues that are simply out of our control.
Author understands that once the Kindle Edition is submitted to Amazon’s DTP, Outskirts Press will provide the author with the login information for the account. It is the author’s responsibility to change the password upon receipt of this information.
Author understands it is the author's responsibility to read and accept the Terms and Conditions of Amazon’s DTP, found here: http://forums.digitaltextplatform.com/dtpforums/entry.jspa?externalID=2&categoryID=12 and that purchase of the Outskirts Press Kindle Edition Service implies full understanding and acceptance of Amazon's DTP terms according to the link herein. Author further understands that Amazon may modify those terms at any time and notification of such changes are the responsibility of Amazon, not Outskirts Press.
Author understands that once the Kindle Edition is completed, future maintenance of the title information and the Amazon account, including revisions and termination of the Agreement with Amazon’s DTP is the author’s responsibility.
Author understands that the way in which Amazon chooses to list or distribute Kindle titles (or the price at which they choose to sell them at) is outside the control of Outskirts Press. Author understands that Amazon and the Kindle are a 3rd Party service, that the Kindle content is currently only available in black/white, and Outskirts Press has no control over whether or not the service continues as it currently exists. Author further understands that it is Amazon's responsibility to report and pay Kindle royalties directly to the author, as outlined in their Terms and Conditions, and any concerns with Kindle royalties or sales are to be addressed solely to Amazon. Outskirts Press does not take any percentage of Kindle sales, nor hold a stake in this arrangement between the author and Amazon in any way.
Amazon Search Inside the Book Submission Service Agreement
Author understands the Amazon Search Inside the Book Submission Service option is a service Outskirts Press will provide to assist the author with submitting their book to Amazon’s Search Inside the Book Program. Outskirts Press will create a unique file specifically for Amazon’s use which meets the required specifications as stated by Amazon on its website. Author understands that they will not receive this file; it is exclusively provided solely to Amazon for this purpose.
Author understands it is the author's responsibility to read and agree to Amazon’s Participation Agreement of Amazon’s Search Inside! Program, found on Amazon’s website here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/html-forms-controller/SITB_Publisher_Signup_Form (we will complete the form on this page on your behalf). Agreement to the Amazon Search Inside the Book Submission Service agreement and purchase of the Amazon Search Inside the Book Submission Service indicates the author's unequivocal acceptance of Amazon’s Participation Agreement.
Author understands that once the Amazon Search Inside the Book Submission Service is completed, it can take 4-6 weeks for the Search Inside! Feature to appear on the listing for the book on the Amazon website, although it is often much faster. Author further understands that the time it takes is completely at the discretion of Amazon and outside of the control of Outskirts Press.
Author understands that the Amazon Search Inside the Book Submission Service is a one-time service. In the case of any post-publication revisions that are done on the book, the Amazon Search Inside the Book Submission Service must be purchased again in order for Outskirts Press to submit a revised version of the book to Amazon.
Amazon Keyword/Tag Submission Option Agreement
Author understands the Amazon Keyword Search Submission option is a service Outskirts Press will provide to submit 10 specific keywords “Tags” to Amazon’s search engine for the purposes of improving the search results on Amazon for a specific book. This service includes selecting all present “Tags” on the Product Detail Page and submitting 10 new specific keyword “Tags” to Amazon’s review department.
Author understands that Outskirts Press cannot guarantee higher sales volume as a result of this option, nor can Outskirts Press guarantee that Amazon accepts each keyword, nor can Outskirts Press guarantee that acceptance of each keyword will vastly improve the search results for the specific book, since the overall ranking of a book in the search results depends upon a variety of complex components including overall sales ranking of the book, keyword applicability, and the competitive nature of the keyword. Amazon’s implementation, acceptance, review, or removal of specific keywords is at Amazon’s full discretion.
