ENDORSEMENTS "I know of no other children's book that details Langstroth's career and accomplishments. Rosalie's text and the illustrations by Sheila Jarkins are more than just faithful to LLL's lifelong path as a naturalist. In order for young minds to fully understand Langstroth's legacy they must read or be read this book." -Matt Redman, Langstroth Historian "Rosalie Gabbert has written an inspiring, informative and challenging book for young readers of today. The traits exhibited by Langstroth of curiosity, perseverance, following one's interest or dream and passion are valued in our society. Mr. Bee Man leads the reader to explore nature, new interests, and to a greater appreciation of the interdependence of nature on our lives." -Frances Moroney Whited, EdD. Professor Emerita School of Education, State University of New York

Author Information...
AUTHOR BIO As a teacher, author and librarian, Rosalie Gabbert could scarcely identify a honey bee from a yellow jacket. That did not last long when she met Benson, her apiculturist husband. This new interest sent her on a road back in time in the art of beekeeping. Along the way she learned of Langstroth and felt children should have available a book about the Father of American Beekeeping. ILLUSTRATOR BIO Sheila Jarkins is a retired art and dance teacher. She was once a science illustrator who drew bugs she studied under the microscope, including bees. This led to a fascination with the insect world. She buzzed happily at the chance to illustrate Mr. Bee Man. Sheila is a published author and illustrator of four books for children. Visit her website at www.sheilajarkins.com.
