You’ve heard that the Bible is full of contradictions, but what are they? Where do you find them? You’d like to know more, but don’t have the time to do lengthy and painstaking Bible research. Isn’t there a book that exposes the contradictions, difficulties and weaknesses of the Christian Bible? Well, now there is. The Atheist’s Introduction to the New Testament (AINT) is unlike any other Bible reference work. Instead of covering up the inconsistencies in the New Testament, it brings them into the light of day. And unlike most contradiction sites on the internet, The Atheist’s Introduction to the New Testament doesn’t just list the contradictions, but groups them around the major Christian doctrines to show how the Bible itself undermines the basic teachings of Christianity. And you’ll find more than just contradictions, because The Atheist’s Introduction to the New Testament is truly a broad introduction to the New Testament from a skeptical perspective. You’ll see how translations can cover up theological difficulties in the original text, how Christians take Old Testament passages out of context to “prophesy” the coming of Jesus, how to rebut Christian “refutations” of the Bible’s contradictions, how Jesus was wrong about the second coming – plus lots of tips on debating against Christian fundamentalists. Whether you’re a beginner or a veteran contradictionist, you’ll find The Atheist’s Introduction to the New Testament to be a wealth of surprising and little-known information about the founding documents of the Christian religion. EXCERPT: "Before looking at an example, let us clarify the logic involved here. There are two different ways that a pair of passages may contradict each other: 1) the concrete meanings of the words themselves may conflict, or 2) the meanings and images conveyed to the reader may be contradictory, even when the words themselves are only 'differences.' Christian apologists typically will not recognize the second type as contradictions, and we may not be able to persuade them otherwise. But the real test of a contradiction in a literary work is how it is understood by the reader. If a reasonable reader, making normal contextual assumptions, would understand the passages as contradictory, then a contradiction exists. If the Bible were a mathematical treatise we would apply a different standard, but it is not." (pp.39-40)
