Colors of a Man, Tribute to African-American Men is poetry about African American men and the women who love them. This poetry book is an indepth look into the souls and relationships of men and women. In this book of poetry, from everyday Joe's to CEO's, African-American men are compared to the colors on the palette of the great masterpiece painters. President Barack Obama is one of the many historical African-American men whom the author pays homage to.
Using some of the same southern styles and celebrated genres as famous poets, Maya Angelou, Rita Dove, and Nikki Giovanni, Colors of A Man, Tribute to African American Men handles tough subjects such as prison incarceration rates for our black youth, domestic violence, interracial love, cougar relationships, media views of African-Americans relationships, black family values, Christian marriages, health issues, and pastors in the pulpit, and various other topics in Tia Stewart's series of books, "Colors of A Man".

“Colors of A Man, Tribute to African American Men” by Tia Stewart.
Excerpt from BLACK
“…There in the glowing amber of the full moon,
You were immersed in the perfection of the beautiful,
Hypnotic, exotic, erotic, and sensual experience of his blackness.
The calm after the storm.
And then you knew that you had arrived,
Into the perfection that is black...”
Excerpt from YELLOW
“And sing their accolades, thru praises and opera arias.
Yellow,
Let us as black women,
Yell.
Yell about our articulate, intelligent, meticulous, miraculous creation of ours, African American men that we love everyday.
Yell that we love our husbands,
Yell that we love our uncles,
Yell that we love our sons,”…
Excerpt from GREEN
“He was the one that was incarcerated.
Incarcerated in a culture, that says to be
Successful,
You had to be drug dealer, an addict,
Incarcerated in a culture that buys video games, but never books.
Incarcerated in a nation that says it okay not to read,”
But just play ball if you are black male child in America…”
Excerpt from WHITE
“He was white like iced cold milk.
Make that white milk, with Oreo cookies,
White boy was a staple like milk, but with all the familiarity, and deliciousness of Oreo cookies.
The white cream-filled part in the middle that you just had to lick.
And of course the black cookie part that crumbled in your mouth
And that is exactly what happened when she met the white boy.
She was the black part, the part that crumbled in his mouth.
Or was he the white cream-filled part that melted in her mouth?
There is always something special about interracial love,
Black and white, the most basic of colors…”
Excerpt from BLACK NIGHT
“The relationship with our men should mirror that between young lovers.
Eagerly awaiting the arrival of their beloved mate,
melting under the tender touch,
finally succumbing to the moment
after hearing sweet serenades of love, longing, and anticipation…”
Excerpt from Purple
“Purple was the mainstay color in his pastoral robe,
Preacher man,
Preacher man,
Every Sunday morning preaching from the pulpit,
Igniting such passion from the pretty lady in the congregation,
Fiery passion, that was hard to ignore…”
Olive, is a special tribute poem to President Barack Obama.
