One Monarch butterfly glides happily and carefree over the California countryside. The Mexican born Monarch goes by the name of Manny. Manny’s life of boundless fluttering and endless soaring takes a dramatic change when he is abruptly captured by researching entomologists and placed in a holding cell full of butterflies from all over the world. Angry, full of angst and Manny tries to convince is fellow cell mates that a rebellion is in the works and he is just the man to lead them out of their bondage. To Manny’s surprise, only one butterfly chooses to respond. It is Poppi, the eldest Monarch in captivity. He quickly lays down the law of the land to Manny, ensuring Manny does not rock the boat for all of them. Quite dismayed Manny has no choice but to fall in line like all the others.

A few hours later Manny and Poppi find themselves 30 thousand feet in the air heading to their new home thousands of miles away. His new residence is in the nation’s capitol of Washington D.C home of the Smithsonian Institution and their prized attraction “The Butterfly Pavilion”. Now after being Butterfly-Napped from his posh California home life Manny has little choice but to find a way to adapt to his new home.

With the assistance of newly found friends Poppi, and Lucky, Manny’s mission is indeed a formidable one. In order to prevent the pending nuptials of a Princess he adores, he must compete in and win the coveted Bogo Flying Tournament in order to capture the heart of the beautiful and alluring Princess Talia. After doing so Manny must then foil a plot to oust Princess Talia’s father King Ortho from power thus preventing the Pavilion residents from a lifetime of tyranny and injustice thrust upon them by Tabor. If you think that is a handful, Manny must also devise a complex escape plan from the highly secured and well-guarded federal building known as the Natural History Museum.

Flutter and Fly is a story that encapsulates one butterfly’s journey across the country to win the heart of a princess and somehow find his way back home. Luckily, for Manny he just happens to meet some great friends to share in his adventure along the way.
