Books by E'Val
Enlightened Heart/Darkened Soul Is a collection of poetry and short stories written over a four-year period in one man's life while he's dealt with life beginning and life ending. This poet has seen war first hand and fought in it. These poems reflect his struggle to get back who he once was.
The passing:
When one soul passes into the void More then one persons hopes and dreams become destroyed Ragged fragments of what use to be, Shattered in a painful sea And the wind that once blew no longer blows Too the point that people once knew, no longer know As snow becomes ice, emotions frozen As feelings lock up inside And one spirit rides the black river And others mourn his ride
Suicide:
My hand begins to tremble As my finger starts to squeeze The barrels to my brow now As I rest upon my knees Tears slowly seeping from the corners of my eyes Though unable to openly cry. throat dry Because I can’t control the war that rages on inside that which is I Take a shallow breath, release a sigh As the hammer falls and the bullet fly’s Ah, the pointlessness of suicide.
About E'Val
E'Val is a student of the human condition, wielding the written craft to enrapture the mind much like an artist wields a brush. The pages are a blank canvas on which to draw from a talent heralded by many and matched only by an imagination that rises to the task. Enlightened Heart/Darkened Soul is the first in a series of recent pursuits, with work progressing quickly on the follow-up. Born in Camden, N.J and raised in Florida, E'Val has both a north and south texture to his work. If you mix that combination with an edge from the time he's spent in the Army serving in places like Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq and you will experience life through his words.
